Adding Content and Web Pages to Your Dental Website For SEO


We discussed earlier in this guide how to first build your dentist office website.  Now you need to build out your website by adding various web pages containing content including  text and images.


We have found that most dentist’s websites have very few web pages, usually only  5-7 pages.  And on those  these pages there is very minimal content. This will not do!  Search engines like to see that you have ample content and multiple pages that can be indexed and thus more likely to show up in the search results page.  As a dentist, you offer several different types of dental services, and should showcase this on your website while optimizing  it for your target area.  For example, your website should have pages such as:


  • Home
  • Dental Services
  • About Us
  • Our Team
  • Blog
  • Contact Us


Then, you can list underneath “Dental Services” multiple pages such as:


  • Dental Exams & Checkups
  • Preventative Dentistry
  • Pediatric Dentistry
  • Emergency Care
  • Cosmetic Dentistry
  • Etc. (list other dental services you offer)


Underneath the About Us and Our Team section, you can showcase different dentists (if there are more than one of you), different dental hygienists, staff members such as receptionist and other office workers, and anyone else you would like to showcase.


When you create each web page, make sure you have at least 1,000 words per page and have at least one image.  Pages with little to no content are bad for search engines, so if you have any existing web pages that are only 100-500 words, you need to beef them up with more content.



The Importance of Having a Blog on Your Dentist Website


Blogging isn’t only used by individuals to express their personal opinions online.  Having a blog section on your dentist practice website is essential for search engine optimization because it allows you to add new and fresh content on an ongoing basis. There is a limit to how much you can write on your “static” dental service pages, so a blog section facilitates adding fresh content regularly.  Google and the other search engines LOVE content and will send more traffic to those sites that showcase continuously updated content.  New and relevant blog posts will show the search engines that your website is active. Every time you publish a blog post,  signals are sent out to the search engine crawlers that they need to revisit your website.


You might be thinking to yourself, “What can I possibly write about on my dentist blog?”  Here are some topics that can draw visitors to your website:


  • Dental topics – How to Brush Your Teeth, How to Gargle Properly, etc.
  • Dental products reviewed – Toothpastes, toothbrushes, etc.
  • Local events or topics – Any locally themed events or topics.  Helps with local seo.
  • Latest news – Anything new with your dentistry practice.



What to Include in Your Blog Posts



Include one or more high quality photos in your blog post.  Use at least one photo for the top of the blog post that summarizes what the article is about.  While it is ideal to use your own photographs, you can use stock photography as well.



Try linking to 1 to 3 of your other blog posts as well as to 1 to 3 of the main web pages on your website.  It is also worthwhile to link out to other websites that have high-authority.  But, don’t link out too much.  If you do, make sure you use the rel=nofollow attribute to these links.


Break it up

You don’t want to have 1,000 words in one long paragraph.  Attention spans are very short online, so keep paragraphs short and on point. Break up topics with bullet points, or add in a graphic of other images.



Once you have created all of these different web pages, you need to optimize them for the search engines.
